The Homo Gender
Now what it about legalization of homosexuality?!
I am really fussy about the increasing rates of whatever I touch. Being at home has exposed me to some naked truth about the finance management of a home. I can’t help being worried when I go to the vegetable market now a days. It also freaks me out when I suddenly find the northern part of India being equally costly at the southern. For the six years when I was in Bangalore, I could proudly say that basic commodities were reasonable at the north. It is a not some sort of biasing but a truth and I felt pride in telling my friends there about this difference in cost. But all of a sudden forgetting about the oil prices and education getting unaffordable, the religious head of all communities are marching against the legalization of homosexuality. Their only point is – “It is against their religious scriptures”.
An Idea shared… that matters
Why is that most of us take a back-step in to give suggestions and opinions in matters which are not personally associated to us. Are we hopeless or just that we are too busy for that? Ok may be that does not interest or entertain us. Well can’t blame even, after all we are humans; as rightly said by someone –“We would like to see Mike Tyson fighting in the ring rather than Mother Teresa at work”. Come on guys just say –“Yes I am a leech in this society, this human world, where I just know to suck and have no time to add value to it. I am just too busy sucking!!!”
Workaholic syndrome
Workaholic is not an alien word. We have often heard it. The problem of a person being workaholic is that he never realizes that he is workaholic. I found this page defining workaholic so appropriately. I would be presenting two of the basic reasons that I have realized and often found it existing right in front of me.
To be Or Not to be
We cannot share something until we have a complete sense of possessing it. Stephen R. Covey explains it beautifully in his book “Seven Habits of Highly Effective People”. There Mr. Covey explains why a child is reluctant to share his birthday gifts with his friends in his birthday party. The child opens the gift, a toy, and finds it enthralling. When his parents ask him to let his friends have a look at his new toy, he blatantly refuses. As a response to such an unruly behaviour, parents often ends up inflicting some sort of disciplinary measure like scolding upon the child. The child out of fear or respectful obligations may share the toy but still he acts so possessive and unsecure about it. Mostly in such cases a child denies sharing. But surely there is nothing wrong in his disciplinary curriculum as the case is entirely different here.
It is all that makes the difference

The hot sunny weather flipped to a windy and a cloudy one; I don’t know why a sunny weather is associated to happiness and a cloudy one with sorrow, I would like a windy cloudy weather anytime. I removed the curtains from the window which was there protecting me from over dose of sunlight. The wind brought with itself grumbling clouds which were hinting that rain is about to follow it. I like rain too but only till the time it helps to rejuvenate the vicinity after that watching it is just a compromise because usually that heavy downpour demands electricity-cuts.
An Oldie-Moldie
Tonight I was in cleaning spree of a Bachelor’s room (my room) and let me tell you that is something really herculean. While in the trance I observed that the news paper on the top of the bunch of old-newspaper-pile was motionless under the swirling ceiling fan. Clearly some sort of physics was in play. May be the angle of the force the air exerted by the motion of the fan, gravity and rotation of the earth along with the gravity of other celestial bodies were displaying a balancing act which resulted to a motionless newspaper. World over has already enjoyed the 81st Oscar awards ceremony; that’s what was on the front page of that news-paper. Slumdog Millionaire had swiped most of the awards, thanks to the Indian Poverty. To the right of that news was our own boy A.R. Rahman, holding the Oscar awarded to him.
Offending the balancing display, I lifted the paper to have the details of the day. Isn’t it so amazing that whatever be the day, the amount of news is always constant? I mean 24 pages are enough in a newspaper to cover-up the news of the entire globe day after day. After appreciating myself for such a keen observation I got back to the main page where our hero A.R. Rahman stood with his award looking distinctly the same as he was before the award. He had a place right there, we all knew with his first score in “Roja”. Personally I liked the “Kuchi-kuchi rakma” song. Cute song, isn’t it?
I had a great pressure (literally) to watch the movie “Slumdog Millionaire”. Concept of the movie was nice and leaving that, it was just another movie; at least that is what I felt. So sincerely speaking I was shocked to know it was awarded the Oscar for best direction! A.R. Rahman’s getting the award was a satisfaction to me because he deserves that, not for Slumdog Millionaire (SM) explicitly, though he got just for that. Somewhere I feel if he deserved Oscar for SM he surely deserves for RDB (Rang de Basanti).
Ok enough of me hovering over the point that I want to make. Do you guys really think there was no other movie with better direction than SM made by Indian directors? “Lagan” I believe to be a wonderful movie and much better than SM. A.R. Rahman gave the music for it, and for all that I have I can bet every song in it was better than that of SM. So the question is what did it lag? I think we lagged an endorsement of some kind from the WEST. I strongly believe had SM been directed by an Indian director, in the same way as it is, it would have gone un-noticed.
Getting back to the fact, which is India, is on focus. I don’t know why I am taking this Oscar thing so personally but it is now high time for Indian Film Industry to come-up with some real stuffs. Personally I am not comfortable with the distribution of awards (obviously Oscar was no way intended to take care of my satisfaction). Now that Indian Film Industry is into the winner’s list, it should come up with the real stuffs, something that can be showcased in the word theatre. We obviously do not lag talent, we lag the bigger approach. The big players must take the initiative. Is it so difficult to have at least 5 movies a year to a stature of Oscar with the resources we have? I don’t think so.
Before I conclude I would congratulate Resul Pookutty for his Oscar. Guys aren’t we doing some kind of injustice to Resul. For all those who have no idea who he is, he is the winner of the Oscar for sound mixing in Slumdog Millionaire, a guy from our industry. Still could not relate? Remember Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, he did the sound mixing there too. He is a genius in himself. It is just a humble request to all you guys that do not let him disappear among the so called big guys with the prize. He is equally responsible for the pride that we share about the Oscars. If A.R. Rahman gave beautiful scores, it was Resul who made sure their beauty is retained. So next time when you have a chat with anyone about Oscars and Slumdog Millionaire and when you talk about A.R. Rahman just don’t miss Resul’s name. He is also the reason why we have an Oscar with us. On speaking on those lines, Indian slums are also the reason for the Oscars; maybe it is the time for us to make sure we do not get an Oscar for that reason anymore. What say?
What the…
The first mail in office was not work related but it was regarding the attack on Sri Lankan cricketers in Pakistan.
My question is – what is Pakistan’s f****** problem? I really sometimes wonder if shooting people (especially from other countries) is a sort of joblessness they cherish. I hardly give a damn if it is few people who are polluting Pakistan’s image. In fact just give me a reason to believe that. My room-mate gave a comment –“Would had have been the Indian team they would have preferred grenades!” Wow! What hospitality, very customized!!
Misinterpretation or Interpretation…
I was rattling the news paper when my eyes fell on the news “Muthalik granted bail”. Out of annoyance I read the whole of the article.
I regard everyone is independent to have their point of view but surely no one has the right to impose it to anyone. This man Muthalik talks about removing “club and pub culture” and I think that defines his action of his supporters in the pub of Mangalore. If the action that his followers demonstrated in the pub is what he calls to be culture of India, surely he is mistaken about his identity. Leave Indian culture Mr.Muthalik; is it worth considering that act as human-culture even? May be morally they do not depict “Ram Sena” but literally they do -”army of monkeys”.
…I am yet not satisfied
This in response of the open-page article “I’m a happy Indian” in “The Hindu” by Mina Anand. Mina Anand wrote in the response of an article which said it envied China for its awesome medal tally. I must have read that article (I never miss open page articles) and also I believe that I was in sync with whatever was there else I would have been writing in its response too.
China was just short of few medals to US in the Olympics previous to the 2008 Olympic. But this Olympic they are not. India surely did well then its previous display of talent. But let us face the fact; we are still not in the position to compare ourselves in this regard with China, leave competing. Writer says that she is more proud of the apolitical armed force, uniquely structured constitution the plurality that includes secularism and the vibrant democracy; even I am, and every Indian is proud of all this (no offence intended), but I would have been more than proud if India in this Olympic gained few more gold medals.
