Nano is not going to slow down
The Singur issue being so inconclusive, the launch of Nano seemed to delay. But nopes said the authority. the Pune plant shall do the honours. 4000 cars in the first launch. There is nothing to stop the 1 lak dream car. Tata would lose about Rs 200 Cr if it has to take its project away. Buddhadev Bhattacharya, CM of WB seems would not keep any stone unturned to stop them. Lets see…
The “1 lak Tata Car Project” in the ride of uncertinity
The car NANO is served with one more stumble when the West Bengal politics showed no consern about the industrialization aspect of the project. The ambiance of Singur district seems to be yet unappropriate for starting of the NANO CAR project. Ratan Tata, the man who made us dream to own a car at just a lak made it clear to the West Bengal government that if this unhealthy ambiance persists he can pull out the project too.
Now that is something which demands attention. A project like 1500 Cr being withdrawn obviously pose a question on the upcoming investments in the state…”Is it reliable to start an industry here?”
Caar…aazzzy Idea
TATA launches his 1-lak car, was what it read like as I was rattling the news paper in the morning with my half open eyes. I found my room mate juggling his new bike keys all ready to set for his office.
“Isn’t it early for office Amit? You have a bike you can go aaram se(with no hurries)”
“Yup, but if I am late I will be caught in traffic near dairy circle” was his reply.
He bought a bike to reach office on time and now when he has a bike he leaves home half an hour early to cut the traffic!!!!! If he has to leave half an hour early itself, why in this world he needs a bike to be on time??
Anyways back to the news…
This is how the car looks like, the Nano car, It is smaller than the Maruti 800 from outside but has 21% more space in the interiors. Very much goes by its name.
Power from the Nano comes from a rear-mounted 624cc two-cylinder SOHC engine. Mated to a four-speed manual transmission and driving the rear wheels only, the Nano is in no rush to reach high speeds. It reaches 0 to 43mph in 14 seconds. The car can reach the maximum speed of 68mph. This slow acceleration does let the Nano achieve excellent mileage — about 25 kmpl on an average. The Nano will be available in two trim levels, “Standard” and “Luxury.” The “Standard” is truly Spartan, with vinyl seats, a single-color interior, black plastic bumpers and not much else. The “Luxury” lives up to its name by comparison, offering a list of features like body-colored bumpers, fog lamps, power door locks, power mirrors, air conditioning and heater, dual-color interior and fabric seats. It is so motivating for them who thought a new car is just a dream.
I switched on my computer to see the response of the people. It hit right on my face when I saw the line-“The Indian people are ready for such a car, but is the government?”
I guess one thing they are talking about is the clogged up roads.
We produced about 7 million two-wheelers along with 1.4 million cars the previous year, and at some point we will exceed two million. Well, nobody says anything about that. With the present production rate we still look forward for better and uncoagulated roads and work is going in that direction too. When this car comes with a fuel efficient package and less space, it is not at all the right time to pose a question like that. This car will surely replace a segment of two wheeler users and also a significant segment of car users too. (Remember how Santro, Swift and other small cars have cannibalized the car market.) Commercially, with its mileage and space advantages this car being used as taxi will be a profitable option. So blaming this car for bringing disgrace is perfectly not justified.
One statement that caught my eyes was this….
“Sure wouldn’t be much left if it hit even a person or animal at 40 MPH.
Could you imagine if you hit a freaking dog! I think the dog would stand a better chance. “
With the compact design and engine at the rear end the question of security lingered in my mind as I was getting ready for office that day.
As I was waiting for the right moment to cross the road I saw a “family bike”, the husband along with his wife and two children. Won’t a “family car” better substitute a “family bike”, which is so affordable? I believe car stands a better chance to a two wheeler packed with a family when it hits a freaking dog.
There is one wonderful thing. When you come up with something new you can never stand alone, long. You will always have competitors and so will Nano and here it provides us with lots of option to choose from.
It is predicted that China will throw up a challenger to the Nano, with a similarly rock-bottom price. Bajaj Auto, in cooperation with Renault and Nissan is getting ready for its small car launch in two to four years with a competitive cost of $3,000. And that does not end there. Roll out of Tata’s small car may lead to a 20 per cent reduction in prices of two-wheelers and a 35 per cent decline in prices of second-hand cars!!….Huh!!
The features of the Indian small car seem aesthetically alluring for the customer segment for whom this car is meant.
I walked past the company lane which was lined with sedans.
As I reached my cubicle I over heard my colleagues talking about this new launch. Thanks to TATA for his launch of Nano which now gave us some thing else to talk about other than the cricket brat.
RATAN TATA changed the total outlook of small car segment where he is presently the king. Nano comes with the tacit tagline-“Car for all” and this small car is all set for the big ride in the market.
Soon, I guess, I will wake up in the morning early, get ready for office and roll my keys and Amit would ask me…. “Isn’t it too early for office?”
And I would say…. “Yup, but if I am late I won’t get place to park my car in the parking lot.”
The first …..
